Diary of a wimpy kid, the last straw  is about a boy named Greg Hefly trying to improve his year but he realized  that he is good enough so he helped others. He tried to make his mom stop eating chips while eating with the mouth open, his dad stop eating chocolate, his brother naping after school. 
I suggest you read it. It's really good.

Madie was going to watch her show in the morning but she missed it. Lucley her friend got it. Then she felt she wanted to enter a contest. She had a plan. Her grandma had to help her.  After a week she won! Then she had to go on the show. When the day finished, she saw herself on TV.
